Asian Arts Agency is pleased to present the Qawwali group at WOMAD Festival.
A UK-based Qawwali group led by Ustad Haji Ameer Khan Qawwal, son of Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan. Performing for over 28 years in the UK and internationally, the group carry forward the Sufi Qawwali tradition of their ancestors. Drawing on a rich vein of Islamic and Sufi poetry, Qawwali is a form of Sufi devotional music from the Indian subcontinent.
